In order to meet the growing needs of providing quality education at affordable cost to children of Defence Services employees, a miniature but progressive school by the name of NDA English School was established at National Defence Academy on 2nd Feb 1955.
It was a regimental school providing educational facilities to employees of NDA and its allied units. It was registered under SOCIETY REGISTRATION ACT in 1976 & by Zila Parishad in 1980. The school was till Class V and started following CBSE syllabus wef 2000.
However, since school was only class V, need for Army Public School was felt to enable children of defence personnel to get complete Secondary Education. Hence, NDA English School was finally closed down on 20th March 2012.
Army Public school started on 1st April 2012 with class VI as the highest class. Over a period of next four years it was upgraded to a full fledged Secondary School till Class X in the year 2016.
The school is a part of prestigious Army welfare Education Society. School presently has 30 sections from classes I to X & has a strength of over 1250 students.
